Lego
There's not much here yet, but my goal is to document my AFOL (adult fan of Lego) MOCs, as well as my Minifigures and parts collection, in the future.
I like to build MOCs (My Own Creation) in the evenings. It is a hobby I really like as it helps me relax after a busy day. Like every AFOL, I liked to play with Lego toys when I was young and then had my "dark ages" period before finally coming back to building Lego as an adult.
I have amassed quite a collection of bricks and Minifigures over the years, and now I often wonder if I already own a certain piece or Minifigure when I spend time on Bricklink doing my next order. This is why I might work on a tool someday to help me inventory all the parts and minifigure I own. I have not started yet, and it might take quite some time to get it done, but it is always nice to have some plans, isn't it? 😉
I have a Google document in which I add Lego MOC ideas from time to time. I also plan on building a big city like the famous Lego Youtubers I like to watch when working on my own MOCs. I'm not sure when I will start because currently I live in an apartment and don't really have a big open space to do it, so this is yet another future idea I look forward to 😉.
I mostly build with real bricks but sometimes I also enjoy creating digital builds using the STUDIO software.
Here are a few pictures of a pirate ship I call "The Black Queen" that I did some time ago:
I have learned new building techniques and found new interesting pieces lately, so I want to revisit my build someday and improve it. Then, hopefully, I can do a Bricklink order to get all the pieces so that I can finally build it for real.
Lego related Youtube channels I like to watch
- Robin Hood Bricks I like his Bricklink hauls. I found such a lot of interesting pieces by watching his channel, and I like that he often tells you from which set the pieces are, which makes finding them on Bricklink very easy
- hachiroku24 the creator of the Lego Ideas set called "The Insect Collection" (21342) builds interesting MOCs
- Cheesey Studios (don't watch if you are lactose intolerant though, that would be a mess 😉) well-made, funny videos about all things Lego
- Brickcrafts huge Lego city, builds very interesting MOCs for his Lego museum
- For Bricks and Giggles vintage Lego sets reviews
- Jeremy Herbert (the official one, not that other fake one 😉) I really like his yearly advent calendar opening video series
- Ben Cossy interesting piece usage, MOC ideas and building techniques
- Brad's Brick Post interesting Lego MOCs
- AustrianBrickFan every Lego set speed build
- Beyond the Brick Lego conventions & MOCs
Lego Websites
- Lego.com the official lego website (store)
- Lego pick a brick the online pick a brick store to buy pieces (instead of complete sets)
- Bricklink is the best place to buy new, retired, and used Lego sets, bricks, and Minifigures
- The Brothers Brick is an interesting source where they showcase almost daily MOCs built by members of the Lego community
- Lego Ideas a project by the Lego group where Lego fans can submit their ideas for potential future Lego sets, then the users vote for their favorite sets, and if a set reaches 10k votes in a limited time period, it will get added to a list of sets that will get periodically reviewed by Lego, and usually, one or a few sets get selected to be made into an official Lego set
